Hills Like Whit Elephants Literary Response
In this short story, two people are discussing many things. It started out with one person saying that the hills look like big white elephants and they branched off into other conversations. They sat there and drank cold beer and had their discussions. After they finished their discussion of how the hills look like white elephants, they started to talk about their relationship with each other. They kept drinking beer and having their discussion.
This is a very ambiguous story. It’s not like any other story that has a problem and the problem is solved. The characters were in a bar talking about mountains and relationships and they had to catch a train that was coming in five minutes. I really didn’t understand what the story meant and I was very confused
Ernest Hemingway is a different kind of writer that, I guess, doesn’t write like any other author. Even though he’s very descriptive in this story, it was sort of confusing because I couldn’t get the main point of the story.
